Meet Lee Jones

Founder of CYBERSIDE.AI | Technology Leader | AI Explorer | Splunk and Observability Architect

A veteran technology leader who has spent more than three decades turning complex systems into practical solutions—and now helps everyday people confidently navigate artificial intelligence.

THE STORY SO FAR

Technology, curiosity, and a practical path into AI.

Leslie “Lee” Jones III is a veteran technology leader, hands-on engineer, and lifelong learner with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations understand, modernize, and manage complex technology.

His career has followed much of the modern evolution of information technology—from traditional systems and network administration to virtualization, cloud computing, enterprise observability, automation, and today’s rapidly advancing world of artificial intelligence.

Lee currently works as a Lead Software Engineer and Splunk Architect at one of the largest financial institutions in the United States, where he helps provide technical leadership for one of the largest and most complex enterprise observability environments in the industry. His work supports more than 130,000 systems and endpoints in a highly regulated financial environment. He specializes in Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, large-scale Universal Forwarder management, cloud logging, operational analytics, automation, platform reliability, and the investigation of difficult technical problems.

One of Lee’s greatest professional strengths is his ability to look at an enormous technical challenge, break it into understandable pieces, and create a practical path forward. In one major initiative, he helped redesign the automation and governance used to upgrade Splunk software across more than 130,000 endpoints, reducing an upgrade process that had previously taken approximately 18 months to less than 90 days. He has also led and supported enterprise migrations involving Splunk Cloud, Google Cloud Logging, Microsoft Azure, VMware, and other large-scale infrastructure platforms.

Throughout his career, Lee has served as a senior engineer, architect, technical manager, mentor, escalation leader, and trusted problem solver. His experience includes work in Fortune 50 financial services, healthcare, government, cybersecurity, entertainment, and enterprise infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he managed systems and network teams, supported environments containing more than 1,000 virtual machines, led cloud and infrastructure modernization efforts, and helped organizations improve reliability, incident response, security, and regulatory compliance.

Although Lee has spent decades working with enterprise technology, he has never lost the curiosity that first drew him to computers. He enjoys getting beneath the surface of a technology—learning how it works, where it is genuinely useful, where its limitations hide, and how it can be made easier for other people to understand.

That curiosity led him deeply into artificial intelligence.

Lee actively uses and evaluates leading AI systems, including ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, Grok, and specialized AI assistants. He applies AI to software development, research, troubleshooting, writing, system design, workflow automation, data analysis, prompt engineering, and the creation of practical tools. He has used AI-assisted development to design Python utilities, improve Splunk searches, automate operational work, convert legacy data structures, build websites, create learning materials, and explore new ways for people and businesses to benefit from emerging technology.

He does not believe people need to become computer scientists—or memorize an entire dictionary of technical jargon—to benefit from AI. What they need is a trustworthy guide, a clear starting point, some sensible safety rails, and the confidence to experiment.

That belief inspired Lee to create CYBERSIDE.AI.

CYBERSIDE.AI is designed as a practical AI Command Center for beginners, professionals, small-business owners, and curious explorers who want to understand what AI can actually do. Lee created the site to cut through the noise surrounding artificial intelligence and replace hype, fear, and confusion with plain-language explanations, useful comparisons, hands-on lessons, practical prompts, learning maps, current AI news, and real-world guidance.

Lee’s approach is simple: technology should help people—not make them feel left behind.

He brings the perspective of someone who has watched several generations of technology transform the workplace and everyday life. He understands both the excitement of discovering a powerful new tool and the frustration of trying to learn something that seems to change every few weeks. That combination of experience, patience, technical depth, and genuine curiosity shapes everything found on CYBERSIDE.AI.

At heart, Lee is still an engineer and explorer. He enjoys solving problems, building useful things, testing new ideas, sharing what he learns, and helping others become more confident with technology. Whether he is untangling a massive enterprise logging environment or explaining an AI concept to someone using it for the first time, his goal remains the same:

Make complex technology understandable, practical, and genuinely useful.

THE MISSION

Make complex technology understandable, practical, and genuinely useful.

CYBERSIDE.AI exists to replace AI hype and confusion with clear guidance, real-world experiments, honest comparisons, and a human firmly at the controls.
